If you've ever found yourself stuck in traffic on the corner of Baldwin and Cottonwood Streets in Jenison, you've undoubtedly been seduced by the tantalizing scent of freshly grilled BBQ. Like a culinary siren, the aroma beckons you to Dickey's BBQ Pit. Unfortunately, we arrived a tad too early and some menu items weren't available yet, despite it being high noon. We expected a lunchtime feast but had to settle for a slightly delayed gratification.
Opting for the pork brisket, as it was the source of the mouthwatering scent that led us there, we were not disappointed. The pork practically melted in our mouths, no sauce necessary. However, the condiments counter offered original, sweet, and spicy sauces that were equally delightful.
Our side of choice was the mac and cheese, a healthier version that left me craving a gooier, more sinful rendition. But hey, to each their own when it comes to mac and cheese preferences, right?
Being a slow eater, I had my leftovers packed up, only to find that reheating them later left them a bit lackluster. Lesson learned: eat faster, or risk losing that juicy goodness.
So, next time you catch a whiff of that irresistible BBQ aroma wafting from Baldwin Street, don't fight it. Embrace it. You won't regret it. I'm already planning my return visit to try their wings, my initial craving.
