I hear this song and I am transported to the walls of Jericho. I imagine myself with the Israelites led by Joshua (from the Old Testament, not Joshua Garcia ), marching around the towering walls of Jericho (again Old Testament, not Rosales ). Silence is shattered by this battle cry (perfect theme song, right?) coupled with an echoing blast from the ram's horns, and the rhythmic beat of our footsteps echoing through the barren wilderness. Every turn around those imposing fortifications fuels our determination to bring down this impregnable city in obedience to the divine command Joshua received. In an act of symbolic defiance against all reason and logic, we march without weapons or siege equipment - armed solely with trumpets and God's promise. The repetitive rhythm of our synchronized steps amplifies our determination, shaking the very foundations of the enemy's stronghold. Our unified voices rise in harmony, singing praises that reach the heavens and pierce through any doubts that threaten to surface. "I Raise a Hallelujah" rings out, echoing off the daunting fortifications before them, tearing down the fortress of Jericho brick by brick until it crumbles beneath our unwavering faith.
[Disclaimer: It takes more than just a catchy theme song to channel my inner-biblical badass. I am totally obsessed with Superbook (that animated TV show in the 80s) and have the wildest imagination when it comes to biblical characters. As an unabashed fan, I find myself drifting into the mystical world of biblical characters, playfully donning a short tunic like the rest of the Israelites and visualizing adventures alongside these icons of faith. Forget battling aliens or toppling skyscrapers with Marvel superheroes; I'm out here fighting the good fight with God’s people. So excuse me if I get lost in reverie while pondering how I’d take down Jericho's walls with Joshua and the Israelites.]
